Farhad Khan, Nawab of Farhadpur and vizer of the Sultan of Bijapur, constructed this mosque during the final years of Adil Shahi Dynasty.
Farhad Khan was the elder brother of nawab of Afzalpur, Afzal khan, who was assassinated by Shivaji.
Unlike his younger brother Farhad khan remained away from court politics and devoted his life and money for developing irrigation tanks throughout the sultanate.
